WTMP for iPhone: yes, it works on iOS
Last updated:
The question gets asked constantly, and for a fair reason: nearly every who-touched-my-phone app is Android-only. This one is not — WTMP runs natively on iPhone, needs iOS 16 or later, and is free to download. Here is what it does on iOS, and the two things it honestly cannot.
What works on iPhone
- Silent front-camera intruder selfie — no flash, no shutter sound
- Time and GPS location attached to every capture
- Push and email alerts, with the photo included
- DTMP alarm when the phone is moved, picked up or unplugged
- Runs in the background, including after the app is closed
- Pro: 10-second intruder video with sound, SIM-change and power-on alerts, fake home screen, cloud backup
What iOS will not allow
Two things, and it is worth being plain about them because other listings are not. No third-party iPhone app can remotely lock or erase your device — those are Apple's own functions, reserved for Find My and for managed corporate phones. And iOS will not let a backgrounded app capture on demand, so the dashboard cannot ask the phone for a photo the way it can on Android.
The practical answer is to run both. Keep Find My on for recovery and remote erase; WTMP supplies the thing Find My never will, which is a photograph of the person holding your phone, with a timestamp and coordinates attached.
iPhone versus Android, honestly
| Capability | iPhone | Android |
|---|---|---|
| Intruder selfie on unlock | Yes | Yes |
| GPS + timestamp | Yes | Yes |
| DTMP motion / charger alarm | Yes | Yes |
| Intruder video (Pro) | Yes | Yes |
| Remote locate from dashboard | Yes | Yes |
| Remote lock | No — iOS blocks it | Yes |
| Capture a photo on demand | No — iOS blocks it | Yes |
| Fake shutdown screen | No — iOS blocks it | Yes |
| Remote wipe | No — Find My only | Yes |
Setting it up so it actually works
Install from the App Store, then grant camera and location access when prompted. Those two prompts are the whole setup, and skipping either quietly breaks the thing you installed it for: without camera access there is nothing to photograph with, and with location set to Ask Next Time the captures arrive with no coordinates.
Leave notifications on as well. The capture is only half of it — the alert is what tells you to go and look.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does WTMP work on iPhone?
Yes. There is a native iPhone version on the App Store and it needs iOS 16 or later. It takes a silent front-camera photo when someone tries to use the phone, saves the time and GPS location, sends you an alert, and keeps working in the background.
Is there a WTMP app for iOS?
Yes. Most apps in this category are Android-only, which is why the question comes up so often. This one is on both stores — published as WYTMP on Google Play and as WTMP on the App Store — and the two share one account, so you can review captures from all your devices in the same dashboard.
What iOS version do I need?
iOS 16.0 or later. Older iPhones that cannot update past iOS 15 are not supported.
Where do the intruder photos go on iPhone?
They are stored privately inside the app on your own device by default — not in your camera roll, where anyone scrolling your photos would see them. Each capture is also emailed to you, so you have a copy even if the phone never comes back. Pro adds optional cloud backup, which is off unless you turn it on.
Can WTMP lock or erase my iPhone remotely?
No, and be sceptical of any App Store app that claims it can. Remote lock and erase belong to Apple’s own Find My and to managed corporate devices; iOS does not expose them to third-party apps. Keep Find My switched on for that and use WTMP alongside it — Find My answers “where is it”, WTMP answers “who has it”.
What can Android do that iPhone cannot?
On Android the web dashboard can also lock the phone, trigger a photo capture on demand, show a fake shutdown screen and wipe the device. iOS refuses a third-party app all four, so on iPhone the dashboard is limited to sounding the alarm and requesting a location. That is a platform restriction, not a missing feature.
Will it keep running when the app is closed?
Yes, it is designed to keep protection active in the background. Leave notifications and location permission enabled during setup — if location is set to “Ask Next Time”, captures arrive without coordinates, which removes half of their value.
